⚠ Installation Note

Hot Surface Igniters are fragile ceramic handle only by the mounting bracket. Touching the ceramic element creates hot spots that significantly shorten service life.

🔧 Installation Overview

  1. Disconnect power and close gas supply
  2. Locate igniter in burner assembly per service manual

  5. Install new igniter without touching any ceramic element (skin oils shorten life)
  6. Reconnect wiring, restore gas and power
  7. Verify ignition on first call for heat

Q: How do I tell igniter failure from a gas valve failure?

A: If the Hot Surface Igniter glows but gas does not flow, the gas valve is the likely problem. If the igniter does not glow at all, the igniter element or its circuit has failed. For Direct Spark Ignition systems, if you can hear sparking but the burner does not light, check the gas valve and flame sensor.
