ATC Diversified current monitor/relay for AC load protection. Monitors load current and trips an output relay when current exceeds (overcurrent), falls below (undercurrent), or deviates outside a set band protecting motors and pumps from overload, jam, cavitation, and underload conditions.

🔧 Installation Overview

  1. Install current monitor in control panel DIN rail or plug-in socket mount per model
  2. Pass the monitored load conductor through the current sensing window or connect external CT
  3. Set overcurrent and/or undercurrent trip thresholds using front panel controls
  4. Set time delay to prevent nuisance trips on motor start inrush
  5. Wire output relay contacts into motor starter or alarm circuit
  6. Apply power and run load at normal current verify no trip at normal operating level
  7. Test trip by briefly exceeding or going below setpoint current

Q: What is the difference between overcurrent and undercurrent protection?

A: An overcurrent relay trips when current rises above the setpoint protecting against motor overload, jam, or blocked rotor conditions. An undercurrent relay trips when current falls below the setpoint detecting pump dry-run, cavitation, broken belt, or lost load. A current band monitor (CBA series) does both simultaneously with a single device.

Q: Do I need an external current transformer (CT)?

A: Some ATC current monitors have a built-in sensing window for direct wire pass-through on smaller conductors. Larger conductors or higher current levels require an external current transformer (CT). Check the product specifications for the maximum direct-wire current rating.
