The steel wool pad is a highly springy, porous metal mesh base layer made from stainless steel or brass fibers placed deep inside the press buck assembly on cuff, collar, and utility presses. It acts as a permanent, non-collapsible spring reservoir that allows rapid steam and vacuum passage through the full pressing surface without compressing under load.

⚠ Important Note

Steel wool pads are a long-life base layer. Replace only when mesh is visibly collapsed or broken they outlast fabric layers many times over.
